Out West Part 3: Arches National Park

We went swimming at the Aarchway Inn and headed down the road to Arches National Park.  Arches National Park was HOT. Worth the stop, but wow was it ever hot.

For information on these formations, This site is pretty cool:  http://www.geosciences.unl.edu/~dloope/pdf/GeologyToday.pdf. It's about the wind erosion of the Navajo Sandstone.  The basic Arches explanation is at http://www.nps.gov/arch/naturescience/geologicformations.htm or http://www.scienceviews.com/parks/archeformation.html.

Wondering whether this is petrified wood.
